Peacock Lane.  Black and White from last year and digital color from this year.

"In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,

Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;

Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,

In the bleak midwinter, long ago."

Christina Rossetti

From August what might be one of my last rolls of 35mm color film.

Black and white work done of one of my favorite subjects this year Occupy Portland.  I still have two rolls of 35mm film yet undeveloped.

Some work done with my Canon Powershot Pro-1 digital camera.

A favorite black and white image of mine from a dark gloomy Summer.
An old 6x6 negative taken back in 1970 that I never printed.

Digital color work that convinced me to probably give up using color film.

Another Occupy Portland shot one of hundreds I took with black and white film and digital color.
Another image from 1970.
Peacock Lane on a dreary December 24th.  I may go back and shoot around dusk just as some of the lights come on in color but I like these somber black and white.

Pictures from 2011

Not one of the most inspired years.  I guess I might be going through an artistic slump.

A few months ago I attended a 40 year reunion of our high school class.  Most of us attended the same grade schools and so spent a lot of our childhood and adolescence together.  I had my 1st grade class picture and someone from the reunion put up on the internet our 8th grade class picture.  I liked pairing these images of us as children against what we became and it made me think of this Cat Stevens song.

"Oh Very Young, what will you leave us this time
You're only dancin' on this earth for a short while
And though your dreams may toss and turn you now
They will vanish away like your dads best jeans
Denim blue, faded up to the sky
And though you want them to last forever
You know they never will
(You know they never will)
And the patches make the goodbye harder still.
Oh Very Young what will you leave us this time
There'll never be a better chance to change your mind
And if you want this world to see a better day
Will you carry the words of love with you
Will you ride the great white bird into heaven
And though you want to last forever
You know you never will
(You know you never will)
And the goodbye makes the journey harder still.
Will you carry the words of love with you
Will you ride, oh,oooooooooooooh
Oh Very Young, what will you leave us this time
You're only dancin' on this earth for a short while
Oh Very Young, what will you leave us this time"

Cat Stevens.

More images from what will probably be my last roll of color film.

I had some color film developed from last summer.  I think it will be the last color film I shoot.  I can control color much better using the digital camera.
