Photograph by Vivian Maier

Two years ago the work of this woman came to light and I mentioned it here in my blog in January 2011.  A New York Nanny who  left behind 20,000 negatives but no prints or any explaination as to why she took them.   The work is being treated digitally which I think is unfortunate. A negative deserves a print.  Perhaps she meant to have the time some day to start printing but just never got around to it.  Perhaps an attempt to start printing her own work would have gotten in the way of her taking it.  It begs the question as to when the picture is made in the minds eye or the darkroom.  She is an enigma.
